Liverpool Hope University signs Armed Forces Covenant
Liverpool Hope University is proud to announce it has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a national pledge to support the Armed Forces community.
A signing ceremony took place at Hope Park on Wednesday 10th July and was attended by representatives from the Army, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Reserve Forces.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Claire Ozanne, signed the Covenant alongside AIR Regional Employer Engagement Officer, Wing Commander Martin Morris; Lt Antonio Valente, Assistant Naval Regional Commander at the Royal Navy’s Northern England & Isle of Man headquarters; and Adjutant, Capt Ben Griffin of the Royal Logistics Corps’ 156 Supply Regiment.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.
As a signatory, the University joins hundreds of organisations from across the country in recognising the contribution that service personnel, both regular and reservist, make to our region and the country.
Professor Ozanne said: “We recognise the important contribution that service men and women make to our country and so we are pleased to be able to show our support for members of the Armed Forces and their families.
“Signing this Covenant forms part of the role we play in the long term development and growth of our regional community.
“As a significant employer and educator in the region, we are committed to the values represented by the Covenant in promoting the equal treatment of and support for those who serve our country.”
Representing the Reserve Forces, Jan Cox QVRM, Regional Employer Engagement Director for Merseyside, added: “I am delighted to welcome Liverpool Hope University into our Armed Forces Covenant family.
“I was honoured to work with this amazing organisation as they created their Covenant Pledges. This provided the opportunity for me to witness the support and research work that they undertake on behalf of Defence People.
“Going forward, I look forward to working in collaboration with the team and our wider Armed Forces community.”
Liverpool Hope is one of four Catholic universities in England.
