Photographer Marcin Mazur’s Holy Land exhibition opens in Cardiff

An exhibition of portraits by the official photographer to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales is going on display in Cardiff Cathedral.

The ’50 Faces of the Holy Land’ project is a photographic exhibition by Marcin Mazur, commissioned by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales. It was designed to highlight and promote the lives of the faithful in Israel, Gaza and Palestine. Each face tells a story – marked with the region’s history, its diversity, its joy and its suffering.

From today, Friday, 11th October, the exhibition will be on display at St. David’s Metropolitan Cathedral and will remain open until Wednesday, 23rd October. The exhibition, run by the Friends of the Holy Land, aims to deepen understanding of the complex situation in the Holy Land and raise awareness of the plight of our brothers and sisters there, with the hope of generating greater support for their mission.

Ecumenical Vespers will also take place on Wednesday, 16th October, at 5:30 p.m. in the Cathedral, to pray for peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land. The service will be led by Archbishop Mark O’Toole, joined by Lord Rowan Williams, Patron of Friends of the Holy Land, along with other ecumenical guests and dignitaries. After the service, a Q&A session will be held in the Mostyn Room, where Brendan Metcalfe, CEO of Friends of the Holy Land, will provide an update on the current conditions in the region.
