East Anglia’s Director of Youth Service hits right notes with song for the Jubilee
East Anglia’s Director of Youth Service, Hamish MacQueen, has released a song to celebrate the Jubilee, which is attracting interest from people as far away as Scotland!
Twenty-five years ago, Hamish founded a full-time Catholic rock band called Revelation, with the aim of sharing the Gospel message through music. They toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe. At the height of their success, they played a stadium in Germany and at World Youth Day in Paris.
They stopped touring full-time in 1998 but Hamish has continued to record and write music.
“I wanted to write something upbeat and contemporary for the Ignite Team to sing in schools,” said Hamish.
It’s The Jubilee started life with Hamish humming a melody while playing the piano. He recorded it on his phone and sent it along with lyrics for the chorus to long time collaborator and professional producer Matt Dean. After a few emails backwards and forwards they had a basic song but it still needed lyrics for the verse.
“I read the letter Pope Francis wrote about the Jubilee, and it is beautiful, So I took some of the phrases and put them in the song. The rest just fell into place.”
